You’ve made the decision to build a new custom, lake home. Now to decide on the home style & floor plan of your custom home. Just as each floor plan of a custom home is unique, the family building the home is just as unique. And, of course, each family has different needs.
Home Style & Floor Plan of Your Custom Home
When exploring the latest popular trends in the housing industry, homeowners sometimes overlook the style of the house itself. This is unfortunate because the type of home you build will largely set the tone for the type of interior and exterior designs that will be aesthetically optimal. Selecting the style and type of house you want is the most important thing to consider when building your custom lake home. A home should reflect your taste, lifestyle and be suitable to the entire family’s needs. Functionality is a key component to effective design.
Blackhawk Drive Custom Home
Looking at some of our favorite homes that were thoughtfully built with the home owner’s needs in mind, Blackhawk Drive comes to mind. This unique home and floor plan had many considerations that needed to be taken into mind when developing the floor plan. The owners wanted to keep their beloved historical cottage that they had enjoyed in years past with their own children as they grew up. Now empty nesters, the couple was ready to build their dream lake home while simultaneously saving the prosperity of the original honeymoon cottage that was part of an entire estate built just past the turn of century.
The couple spent several years developing plans and, after great consultation, determined that Colby Construction could fulfill their needs and create the home they wanted while saving the revered cottage. The thoughtful floor plan included a large kitchen that was open to the dining and living room areas, an open space for a future elevator (if needed as the couple ages), a splendid three-season room and, of course, a unique remodel of the cottage to make it flow into the new home.
