Renewing Your Lake Country Home: Remodeling and Making the Best Area for Your Life

You have a space in your home that’s good, it works, but just isn’t right for you, your family and your lifestyle. Well, why not make it better? Why not make it the best possible part of your home that it can be? This week we take one last look at the Shore Acres remodel and how one family took a good space in their Lake Country home and, with the help and expertise of Colby Construction, made the space a true extension of their home and perhaps the favorite part of their beautiful custom, lake home.

Creative use of space is part of the exceptional knowledge you get when working with the Colby Construction team. The goal for this family was to make the lower level area not only beautiful, but also functional. We would like to share with you some of the unique features of the Shore Acres remodel.

Renewing Your Lake Country Home

The lower level featured a guest suite with a full bathroom. This is a wonderful, private space for family and friends visiting from out of town. However, this also left visiting families to be split-up, as the area was only conducive to sleeping two. The solution for this was a beautiful seating area just off the guest suite that doubled with a murphy bed. In a moment you have a second sleeping space that can neatly be transformed back into a seating area off the bar.

Making the Best Area for Your Life

Another change the family wanted was to make the most of the space for entertaining families, adults and children of all ages. The solution was simple: divide the space with a media center featuring a large flat screen television on both sides. Now the game of the week can be watched on one side, and the teens can be on the Xbox on the other side. This media divider also created a barrier between a comfortable lounging area and a game room, while still allowing for an open room concept. A brilliant solution, allowing everyone to be in the same space at the same time, only with a little separation, too.

The last area that needed to be addressed was the lake side entrance. Colby created a new entrance off the back of the home that featured towel hooks, hangers and shelves, bench seating, a full bath and a laundry room. This functional area makes lake living that much easier for a busy mom trying to keep up with teens and adults coming in and out with wet towels and suits. There is now a contained area to keep lake living in one neat area. Again, another brilliant solution for an active lifestyle!
